Abstract

An axial distributed coupling coefficient (ADCC) distributed feedback (DFB) laser diode (LD) in which the coupling coefficient (K) has been distributed axially on both sides of the phase shift region. The effects of injection current on the normalized gain amplitude, normalized detuning coefficient and the output power are investigated using transfer matrix method. The results show that the ADCC DFB laser exhibits high single mode stability at different injection currents above threshold and the main mode operates close to Bragg wavelength at high injected current. For different injection currents the optical output power has been increased with decreased the coupling coefficient.

ليزرات التغذية الاسترجاعية الموزعة (DFB) واحد تراكيبها هو ليزر التغذية الاستراجاعية الموزعة ذو التوزيع المحوري لمعامل الترابط (ADCC DFB) حيث يتوزع محوريا على جانبي منطقة قلب الطور (PS) . في هذا العمل تم مناقشة تاثيرات تيار الحقن على مقدار التحصيل ومعامل الانحراف وكذلك الطاقة البصرية الكلية وعلاقتها بمعامل الترابط باستخدام طريقة المصفوفة المنتقلة (TMM). حيث اظهرت النتائج ان تركيب ADCC DFB يظهر ثبات عالي في تحصيل النمط المنفرد (SM) ولمدى واسع من تيار الحقن وتكون قريبة من طول موجة براغ في تيار الحقن العالي .وكذلك تاثير تيار الحقن على الطاقة الكلية لقيم مختلف من معامل الترابط K.

Abstract

Quarterly wavelength shifted (QWS) distributed feedback (DFB) laser structures are commonly referred to be associated with high mode selectivity, zero-frequency detuning and small threshold density. The present work shows the effect of the injection current on some static characteristics (photon density, carrier density , refractive index, gain margin and optical power) of QWS DFB laser diodes.

Abstract

The relative intensity noise (RIN) characteristics in distributed feedback (DFB) lasers are analyzed theoretically by proposing a new methodology. In addition to temperature variation (T), the effect of other model parameters such as injection current (Iinj), active layer volume (V), spontaneous emission (βsp) and gain compression (ε) factors on RIN characteristics is investigated. The numerical simulations shows, the peak RIN level can be reduced to around –150 dB/Hz, while relaxation oscillation frequency (ROF) is shifted towards 5.6 GHz. In addition, the RIN level is increased with temperature by the rate of 0.2 dB/ºC and ROF is reduced by the rate of 0.018 GHz/ºC. Results show, the low RIN level can be obtained by selecting model parameters reasonably
