Forensic Histopathological Approach to Electrocution

Abstract

Background: Few Studies had been done on the role of histopathology in the medico-legal
diagnosis of Electrocution even abroad.
Aim of the study: To determine the main histopathlogical features in cases of electrocution
especially at the entry site of the electrical current which help in the diagnosis of those cases.
Methods: A full medico-legal autopsy had been done on 64 cadavers of persons died as a
result of electrocution chosen randomly out of a total number of 144 cases of electrocution
during the year 2005 in the medico-legal institute of Baghdad including histopathological
examination by ordinary method of different specimens from those cadavers at histopathology
department of the mentioned institute to reach the aim of this study.
Results: Electrocution constituted only 1.4% of all causes of death during the year 2005 in the
medico-legal institute of Baghdad. Males were more than females in a ratio of 2:1. The most
affected age group was 30- 39 years old. In 62% of the case the entry of the current was with
no exit. In 46.9% of the cases the entry site was in the form of charged centre surrounded by
gray elevated area and took other shapes in the rest of the cases. Microvesicural formation was
the commonest histopathological finding in the skin. Pulmonary edema was the commonest
histopathological finding in the lung.
Conclusions: Although they are non specific, histopatological features could help the forensic
pathologist in the medico-legal diagnosis of electrocution in addition with other findings
especially in cases with less typical gross features or with incomplete information about the
case, in addition to other conclusions of the study.

EFFECT OF THE PLASTIC COVER COLOR AND ELECTROCUTION IN SOME VEGETATIVE GROWTH INDICATORS AND PARTHENOLIDE CONTENT IN LEAVES OF TANACETUIM PARTHENUIM L PLANT.

Abstract

This research was carried out in the scientific experiments field of the colleg of Agriculture - University of Baghdad, during the agricultural season 2015-2016 to study the effect of the plastic cover color and electric shocks in the vegetative growth indicators and Parthenolide content in the leaves, the expirements conducted according to the randomized complete block design (RCBD) (Split plot design) the first factors (Main plot) was the plastic cover color (transparent, yellow, red and blue) and the second factor (Sub plot) incorporates four levels of electrocution (0,2,4,6 Amp) for 4 minutes, thereby resulting 48 experimental units (4 × 4 × 3) as the experimental unit contains 10 plants.The differences amonge means were tested using LSD test at a level of probability of 0.05. The results showed superiority of the treatment of the caver blue (B) an increase of plant height and leaf area and chlorophyll A and B total chlorophyll, reaching 18.50 cm , 28.73 , 1.581 , 1.136, and 3.460 mg 0.100 g-1 fresh weight respectively), and the superiority of the transaction yellow cover ((Y to increase the number of leaves and fresh and dry vegetative growth (141.50 , leaf .plant -1 , 65.27 g.plant-1 and 22.02 g.plant-1), respectively, and outperformed the treatment of red cover (R) outperforming increase the number of branches, which reached 12.67 branch.plant-1, and the treatment of electrocution level (4 Amp) has outperformed significantly in charactesistics vegetative growth, which included (plant height, number of leaves, leaf area, leaf content of total chlorophyll and chlorophyll A, B, fresh and dry weight of shoot and the content of the leaves from the Parthenolide (18.41 cm and 149.70 leaf.plant-1and dcm2.pant-1and 26.29 g.plant-180 0.85 g.plant-1 and 30.067 g and 25.70 µg.g-1) respectively, the treatment of the overlap between the color of the cover electric stun significant effect on vegetative growth indicators have superior treatment (BA2) a significant increase in plant height and leaf area and the content of the leaves of chlorophyll A,B total (20.33 cm and 35.65cm2.plant-1and 1.993 and 1.230 and 3.969 mg.100g-1fresh weight respectively, and the superiority of the treatment of overlap (RA3) in the number of branches vegetative (17.33 branch.plant-1) and the treatment of overlap (YA2) in the number of leaves, fresh and dry weight of branches (167.67 leaf.plant-1and 95.82 g and 37 0.98 g), respectively.It can be conclude that of the the color plastic cover and electric shocks had significant effect on vegetation and stimulate the growth and prodation of parthenolide in leaves.

نفذ البحث في حقل التجارب العلمية التابع لكلية الزراعة -جامعة بغداد ، خلال الموسم الزراعي 2015-2016 بهدف دراسة تأثير لون الغطاء البلاستيكي والصعق الكهربائي في مؤشرات النمو الخضري ومحتوى الأوراق من مركب Parthenolide،نفذ البحث وفق تصميم القطاعات الكاملة المعشاة (RCBD) ضمن الألواح المنشقة (Split plot design) إذ اشتمل البحث على دراسة عاملين الأول (Main plot) لون الغطاء البلاستيكي (الشفاف والأصفر والأحمر والأزرق) والعامل الثاني (Sub plot) اشتمل على أربعة مستويات من شدد الصعق الكهربائي (0،2،4،6 أمبير) لمدة 4 دقائق ، وبذلك نتجت 48 وحدة تجريبية (4×4×3) علما أن الوحدة التجريبية تحوي 10نباتات ،اخُتبرت الفروق بين المتوسطات الحسابية وفق اختبار اقل فرق معنوي L.S.D عند مستوى احتمال 0.05. أظهرت النتائج تفوق المعاملة بالغطاء الأزرق(B) بزيادة ارتفاع النبات والمساحة الورقية وكلوروفيل AوB والكلوروفيل الكلي، إذ بلغ 18.50سم و28.73سم 2.نبات 1-و1.581و1.136و 3.460ملغم.100غم1- وزن طري على الترتيب وتفوق المعاملة بالغطاء الأصفر ((Y في زيادة عدد الأوراق والوزن الطري والجاف للمجموع الخضري (141.50ورقة.نبات1-و65.27غم.نبات1-و22.02غم.نبات1-)على الترتيب وتفوقت معاملة الغطاء الأحمر (R) بزيادة عدد الأفرع،إذ بلغت 12.67فرع.نبات1-،أمامعاملة الصعق الكهربائي بالمستوى 4أمبير فقد تفوقت معنوياً في صفات النمو الخضري والتي شملت (ارتفاع النبات وعدد الأوراق والمساحة الورقية و محتوى الأوراق من الكلوروفيل الكلي وكلوروفيل AوB والوزن الرطب والجاف للمجموع الخضري ومحتوى الأوراق من Parthenolide(18.41سم و149.70ورقة.نبات1-و26.29سم2.نبات1- و80.85غم و3.102و1.556و0.960ملغم.100غم وزن طري و30.067غم.نبات1- 25.70مايكروغرام.غرام1-) على الترتيب ، أدت معاملة التداخل بين لون الغطاء والصعق الكهربائي تأثير معنوي في مؤشرات النمو الخضري إذ تفوقت المعاملة(BA2) معنوياً في زيادة ارتفاع النبات والمساحة الورقية ومحتوى الأوراق من الكلوروفيل الكلي وAوB(20.33سم و35.65 سم 2.نبات1-و1.99و1.230و3.969ملغم.100غم1- وزن طري على الترتيب وتفوق معاملة التداخل RA3 في عدد الأفرع الخضرية(17.33فرع.نبات1-) ومعاملة التداخل(YA2) في عدد الأوراق والوزن الرطب والجاف للمجموع الخضري(167.67ورقة.نبات1-و95.82غم و37.98غم) على الترتيب.نستنتج من الدراسةان لون الغطاء البلاستيكي والصعق الكهربائي له تأثيراً معنوياً في مؤشرات النمو الخضري وتحفيز وانتاج Parthenolide في الاوراق.
