Abstract

BackgroundThe functional and morphological development of the glomerius is an essential part of nephrogenesis that takes place during Intra uterine life and early post-naiat days.ObjectivesTo study the morphometric parameters of the maturation of the glomerular filtration slit of the kidney during neonatal period and its implication on the function of the kidney.MemodRat litters are used as a mammalian model of the development during the first 8 days of post -natal life. Image analysis using Bell software system was used for morphmetric measurement of filtration silt as examined by electron microscope-ResultsThe width of the filtration slit of new born kidney was 11.24±1.6 nm which increased by increment to be 14.83+1,6 nm on 4th .post- natai day. Eventually reached 25.34±4.3 nm on day 8 post natally.ConclusionsIn New Born litters, the glomerular filtration slit is narrower than that of mature kidney. Glomerular development continues to take place during first post natal week to reach the adult mature parameters at the end of neonatal period. This explains the low GFR found in new born mammals.

Abstract

background"The metanephric glomeruli develop from the metanephric blastema and ureteric bud. The nephron anlage undergoes multiple differentiation stages, fusion and invagination that lead to the formation of nephron.objectiveTo describe the morphological changes and transformations that lead to formation of metanephric permanent glomerulus during peri-natal period.methodThe study was performed on albino rat as a model for mammalian embryonic development. Embryos of20-22 days of gestation and neonatal litters were investigated for renal development. The specimens were double fixed, plastic embedded and semi-thin sections stained with methylene blue were examinedresultit was shown that glomerular development oontinues during late pre-natal days and first week post-natally. Maturity was attended by the end of the 7lh post-natal day The developing glomerulus passes through the stages describes as vesicle, comma, S-shaped, double comma, elongation and ovale stage to become finally mature.conclusionThe metanephric glomerulus passes through sequential, mufti-stage, pleomorphic development during peri-natal period. These features should be considered during evaluation of kidney during this period.

Abstract

Thirty pregnant albino mice with average body weight of 25-30gm and 8-14 weeks old were used to investigate the toxicity of the oral administration of anticancer methotrexate on kidneys after birth. Pregnant were received (single dose) of drug at different days of gestation and were divided into three groups (10mice / group), control groups were administered distilled water, the two remaining groups were administered by 2.5 and 7.5 mg/kg body weight of methotrexate. The changes in kidneys of newborns revealed significant (p<0.05) decrease in kidneys weights, kidneys lengths, pelvises

استخدمت (30) من إناث الفئران الحوامل بمعدل وزن (25-30) غرام وعمر (10-14) أسبوع لتحري عن سمية عقار الميثوتركسيت المضاد للسرطان. لدراسة تأثير العقار على الكلى بعد الولادة, جرعت الأمهات الحوامل عن طريق الفم بواقع جرعة واحدة من العقار في أيام معينة من الحمل. قسمت الإناث إلى ثلاثة مجاميع(عشرة لكل مجموعة) وشملت مجموعة السيطرة جرعت بالماء المقطر, والمجاميع الاخرى جرعت بتركيز( 2.5 و 7.5ملغم/ كغم وزن الجسم) من عقار الميثوتركسيت. أظهرت النتائج أن تعرض الأمهات الحوامل إلى جرع مختلفة من عقار الميثوتركسيت سبب انخفاض معنوي (P<0.05) في معدل أوزان الكلى للفئران حديثة الولادة (عمر يوم واحد) وكذلك حدوث انخفاض معنوي (P<0.05) في معدل أطوال الكلى وفي أطوال الحويض والأقطار الكبيبية لحديثي الولادة .ان الزيادة في التركيز للميثوتركسيت تؤدي الى زيادة التأثير في كلى الاجنة وحديثي الولادة

Abstract

The house mice kidneys lay on each side of the upperlumbar vertebra in the abdominal cavity behind theperitoneum. The right kidney was situated more craniallythan the left. The shape of two kidneyswas bean likestructure. The mean weight of the right kidney was0.076±0.013gm while, the left kidney was0.072±0.011gm. The mean length, width and thickness ofthe right kidneys were 7.4±0.647mm, 5.098±0.427mm,3.624±0.198mm respectively while those of the left were6.8±0.518mm, 4.768±0.481mm,3.468±0.123mmrespectively. The kidneys consist of twodistinct regions, the outer cortex is reddish brown in colorand inner medulla, and both terminate bysingle elongatedrenal papillae. The house mice kidneys were covered by athin dense connective tissue capsule with adipose tissue.The nephron composed of large and small rounded orirregular renal corpuscle; each The renal corpuscle isforms the glomeruli that enveloped by Bowman’s capsule,and the proximal convoluted tubules, loop of Henle andthe distal convoluted tubules. The cortex consists fromrenal corpuscles, proximal convoluted tubules and distalconvoluted tubules. The proximal convoluted tubule arisesfrom the parietal epithelium of Bowman’s capsule of theurinary pole of the renal corpuscle lined by simple highcuboidal epithelium. The distal convoluted tubules werelined by simple low cuboidal epithelium. The part of thedistal convoluted tubule in contact with glomerular roothas the macula densa. The medulla of each kidney isformed from thick parts lined bysimple cuboidalepithelium and thin parts of the loops of Henle lined bysimple squamous epithelium and the thin limb had adistinct rounded lumen and collecting tubules are lined bypale cuboidal epithelium with rounded nuclei andMJPS….Vol.(2)….No(1)….December 2014basophilic cytoplasm. The terminal portion of thesetubules is lined by columnar epithelium and is calledpapillary ducts.
