Abstract

A novel thin microporous composite membrane of a dual-element hydrotalcite-silica was prepared on porous alumina support by sol-gel method. Strong CO2 adsorption on hydrotalcite material inhibited the diffusion of H2 through the membrane and decreased H2 permeances significantly so that CO2 preferentially permeated. The effects of pressure difference across the membrane, operating temperature and CO2 feed concentration on the CO2 separation performance of the membrane were investigated using synthetically mixed gas. The CO2 permeance and CO2/H2 separation selectivity decreased with increasing the temperature due to the loss of the membrane ability for CO2 adsorption with temperature. Further increase of the pressure difference across the membrane decreased both CO2 permeance and CO2/H2 separation selectivity. The CO2 feed concentration with 40% showed the best performance with a CO2/H2 separation selectivity of 10.59.

Abstract

The process modeling and optimization of carbon dioxide (CO2) separation from carbon dioxide-methane (CH4) binary gas mixture through hydrotalcite (HT)-silica membrane using statistical design of experiments (DoE) is reported in this study. The effect of three important process variables, pressure difference across the membrane (100-500 kPa), temperature (30-190oC) and CO2 feed concentration (10-50%) on the CO2 separation performance of the membrane were investigated. The response surface methodology (RSM) coupled with central composite design (CCD) was used to build up two models to correlate the effect of process conditions to CO2 permeance and CO2/CH4 separation selectivity. The analysis of variance (ANOVA) of the quadratic model at 95% confidence interval confirmed that the model was highly significant. The CO2 feed concentration with 43% showed the best performance with a CO2 permeance of 6.0x10-7 mol.m-2.s-1.Pa-1 and a CO2/CH4 separation selectivity of 109 at 100 kPa pressure difference across the membrane and temperature of 30oC.

Abstract

AbstractThe synthesis of phenolxy herbicides- Zn/Al-layered double hydroxides nanohybrids by reacting 2, 4-di chloro- (24D) and 2, 4, 5-trichlorophenoxy acetic acid (TCPA) nanocomposites were accomplished using direct method of ion exchange. The release of nanohybrids into various aqueous salutions; carbonate and phosphate was found to be controlled by parabolic diffusion at the beginning of the process. On the other hand, the whole process is governed by pseudo-second order rate expression. The percentage saturated released was found to be anionic-dependent, in the order of carbonate > phosphate for the release media and 24D >TCPA for the anionic guest. This study suggests that the release of the phenoxyherbicides agrochemicals from the nanohybrid compounds can be tuned by choosing the right combination exchangeable anions both in the incoming and the out coming anions.

الخلاصة: تخليق الموبيدات الفينوكسية مع مركبات ثنائية الهيدروكسيدات من طبقة الزنك/المنيوم بطريقة التهجين و تفاعل 4,2- ثنائي كلوروفينوكسي حامض الخليك , (النانوي بين 5,3,2ثلاثي كلورو فينوكسي حامض الخليك كمركبات نانوية باستخدام الطريقة المباشرة للتبادل الايوني للانيونات من المركبات اعلاه في محاليل مائية مختلفة مثل الكاربونات والفوسفات وجد ان التفاعل محكوم بالتنافذ المسامي عند بدء عملية التحرر علما ان العملية برمتها ينطبق عليها موديل الرتبة الثانية الكاذبة. ان نسبة التحرر وجدت معتمدة كليا علئ نوع الانيون وانه في وسط الكاربونات اكبر منه في وسط الفوسفات. الدراسة تقترح بان تحرر الموبيدات الفينوكسية ككيمياويات زراعية من مركبات ذات تهجين نانوي يمكن ان يسيطر عليها باستخدام التبادل الايوني المتحد للايونات الداخلة والخارجة .
