Abstract

The present study aimed to determine the ameliorative effect of bay leafextract(BLE) on some biochemical parameters of laboratory diabetic male rats(Rattusnorvegicas) induced by Alloxan .The study consisted of thirty adult male ratsrandomly divided into five equal group(six of each ). As follow :Group one theanimals treated by intra peritoneal injection (IP) of normal saline solution(0.25ml),Group two the animal treated by oral gavage with (BLE) at dose (500 mg/Kg/BW) daily .Group three , rats were treated I.P with 100 mg /Kg BW single doseof alloxan(Allox).Group four .The diabetic rats were given orally by oral gavagelow dose of ( BLE)(250 mg /Kg/BW ) daily. Group five ,diabetic rats were givenby oral gavage high dose of BLE(500 mg /Kg/BW ) daily for 3 weeks.At the endof experiments period ,rats were sacrificed ,blood were collected by cardiac punctureto investigate biochemical parameters which included glucose ,liver enzyme(ALT,AST and ALP ) lipid profile TG , TC ,HDL-c , LDL-c , ,Total serum protein,Blood urea, and Creatinine concentration . Result indicated a significant increasedin Glucose,ALT, AST, ALP, TC, TG, LDL-c ,urea, and Creatinineinin diabetic animalwhereas HDL-c significantly decreased

Abstract

Smoking have a direct and indirect effects on some organs of the body, this effect is duo to inhaled the smoke and reach the alveoli and in to pulmonary veins. The main objective of this study, to investigate the changes in liver enzymes Alanine aminotransferase(ALT), Aspartate aminotransferase(AST) and Alkaline phosphatase(ALP) and electrolytes like(K+, Na+, Fe+2, Ca+2,Cl- and Po4 -3) in male smokers. In this study collect of (100) blood samples from male smokers and divided in to (3) groups according to period of smoking, and compare with (40) nonsmoker persons (group 4), the age groups are between (25-40) year, in a period between (November 2015-April 2016), within the district of Baqubah in Diyala governorate .The results show increase activity of enzymes ALT, AST and ALP (p<0.001) in smokers compared to control, and no significant differences in the electrolytes (K+, Na+, Cl-) but a significant decrease in Ca+2 level (p<0.001), while the iron concentration increased significantly in all smokers, and the phosphorus concentration increased significantly (p<0.001) in two groups of smokers (10-20) years period of smoking. From this study showed a significant effects on the activity of liver enzymes, Ca+2, Po4-3 and Fe+2in smokers compare to non-smokers while no significant effect on the Sodium, Chloride and Potassium in smokers.

للتدخين تأثيرات مباشرة وغير مباشرة على معظم أعضاء الجسم. هذه التأثيرات يمكن ان تحدث بسرعة عندما تستنشق وتصل الى الحويصلات الرئوية ومن ثم الى الاوردة الرئوية. الهدف من الدراسة هو التحري عن التغير في مستويات الانزيمات الكبدية مثل الانين , اماينوترانسفيريز و اسبرتيت اماينوترانسفيريز و الكلاين فوسفتيز و الشوارد الكيميائية مثل البوتاسيوم والصوديوم و الحديد و الكالسيوم و الكلوريد و الفوسفات في مصل دم المدخنين الذكور. تم جمع 100 عينة من المدخنين الذكور وتم تقسيمها الى ثلاث مجاميع اعتمادا على فترة التدخين. ومقارنتها مع 40 شخص غير مدخن (مجموعة رابعة) والاعمار المختارة هي بين (25 – 40 سنة) من الفترة ما بين (تشرين ثاني 2015 – نيسان 2016) في قضاء بعقوبة في محافظة ديالى.

Abstract

Thyroid hormones are essential element in body growth and influence the formation of many enzymatic proteins. These hormones regulate and have a major role in controlling the metabolism of the entire body. They also play an important role in the normal hepatic function. Thyroid diseases are linked with liver enzymes levels irregularities, cholestatic jaundice resulted from low bilirubin level and bile excretion, hepatic lipid homeostasis, viral hepatitis, an increase in alanine aminotransferase, aspartate transferase and alkaline phosphatase. Thyroid stimulating hormone and serum liver enzymes were analyzed using standard kits. Results showed that hyperthyroidism and hypothyroidism patients had an elevation in the levels of serum alkaline phosphatase, aspartate transferase and alanine aminotransferase when compared to controls. However, the values were higher in hyperthyroidism patients. This work aims to study the effect of thyroid stimulating hormone on the level of liver enzymes in a group of local Iraqi patients with thyroid disorder.

Abstract

The ameliorative effects of probiotics (Lactobacillus acidophilus) on liver functions in experimentally induced colitis in adult male rats were studied. Thirty six male rats were divided randomly into 4 groups, 9 animals per group. First group was considered as control (C-), 2nd group (T1) and 3rd group (T2) received (5 × 108 CFU) of Lactobacillus acidophilus as probiotics for 2 weeks by oral gavages needle, 4th group was considered as colitis group (T3). Experimentally acetic acid colitis was induced for rat of groups T2 and T3. After 7 days of colitis, at the end of the experiment. Blood sample, 4-5 ml, was collected via cardiac puncture for biochemical analysis and liver sections were isolated for histopathological examination. Results revealed that colitis caused significant (p<0.05) decrease in liver function enzymes AST; AST; ALP and FBS. While Lactobacillus acidophilus recipient succeeded in keeping ALP, FBS, and plasma total protein values within normal, but decreased ALT and AST in coparasim with control group. Histopathological liver section examination showed presence of focal necrosis in acetic acid colitis groups (T2 and T3). Also these changes were prevented in liver sections of rats which received Lactobacillus acidophilus and confirmed the ameliorative effects of probiotics on hepatocellular, preventing hepatocellular damage in experimentally induced colitis.

صممت هذه التجربة لدراسة التاثير الوقائي للبروبايوتك )البكتريا المنتجة لحامض اللبنيك(علىبعض وظائف الكبد في ذكورالجرذان المستحدث فيها التهاب القولون التقرحي بواسطةدفع حامض الخليك ) 4%( في المستقيم . استعمل 63 جرذ ذكر قسمتالى 4 مجاميع كل مجموعة ضمنت 9 جرذان المجموعة الاولى مجموعة سيطرة, جرعت المجموعتين الثانية والثالثة بروبايوتك801 ( وحدة مستعمرة بكتيريا عن طريق الفم وبعد اسبوعين عرضت المجموعة الرابعة والثالثة الى التهاب القولون × بجرعة) 5التقرحي تجريبيا ذلك بحقن محلول حماض الخليك) 4%( فى الشرج. و بعد سبعة ايام أنتهت التجربة تمت التضحية بالحيوانات وتم جمع عينات الدم عن طريق القلب وعزلت مقاطع من الكبد لغرض دراسة التغيرات النسجية . أظهرت النتائج ان التهاب القولونالتجريبي ادى الى أنخفاضا أحصائيا في انزيمات الكبد الالانين امينوترانزفيريز والاسبارتيت امينوترانزفيريز و الفوسفيتالقاعدي وسكر الدم الصائم وكما اثرت بكتريا المنتجة لحامض البنيك في خفض أنزيمات الألماينوترانسفيريز الا انها حفضت علىمستويات الفوسفات القاعدي والبروتين الكلي وسكر دم الصائم ضمن الحدود الطبيعية بالمقارنة مع السيطرة. أظهرت نتائج الفحصالنسجي لمقاطع الكبد وجود تنخر متموضع في اكباد الحيوانات التي تعاني من التهاب القولون التقرحي في الوقت الذي حدت هذهالتغيرات نتيجة اعطاء البكتريا المنتجة لحامض البنيك.

Abstract

The physiologic state induced by general anesthetics typically includes analgesia, amnesia, loss of consciousness, inhibition of sensory and autonomic reflexes, and skeletal muscle relaxation. The liver function is mainly homeostasis. Alanine aminotransferase (ALT), Aspartate aminotransferase (AST) are soluble cytoplasmic and mitochondrial enzymes widely used to assess hepatocellular damage. ALP Alkaline Phosphatase is membrane associated enzyme anchored to cell membrane in particular to the biliary canaliculus. ALP is found in most tissues but is derived predominantly from hepatic cells.Aim of this study was to evaluation of liver enzymes (ALP, ALT, AST ) changes that accompany surgical operation under general anesthetic drugs.A total of (36) patients under go surgical operations under general anesthesia.Blood samples were collected from patients just before and 24 hours after operation. The serum has been stored by deep freezing (-20°C) until used for serological tests to estimate the concentration of serum ALT, AST, ALP enzymes level.The results were significant increase in mean differences of serum ALT, AST, ALP enzymes level.In conclusion this study showed that surgery and general anesthesia elevated serum level of ALT, AST, ALP enzymes.
