Abstract

Nanoparticle (NP) was used in vivo and in vitro in contact with the body fluids that contain different types of proteins. The proteins have the ability to adsorb on NPs surface, and alter its activity due to the modification of the secondary and tertiary structures. In this study, the interaction between coated magnetic nanoparticles (MNP@Dextran) and the hormones (LH, FSH, and TSH) were studied in details. The possible change in the secondary and tertiary structure of these parameters is discussed. The (MNPs) were prepared using co-precipitation method of Fe3O4 followed by reacted these MNPs with Dextran under an optimum conditions to produce coated MNP@Dextran. Different concentrations of each hormone were incubated with a known amount of MNP@Dextran and the quantity of the hormones adsorbed was calculated. The experiments were repeated at different temperatures to calculate the thermodynamic parameters. Secondary structures of hormones were examined using circular dichroism (CD).Tertiary structures of protein were measured using fluoroscopy technique.The adsorption process obeyed Freundlich adsorption isotherm indicating heterogeneity of the MNP@Dextran surface,and it associated with the changing in the secondary and tertiary structure of hormone after adsorption on MNP@Dextran.

Abstract

In this paper we reported nano-crystalline cobalt ferrite powders were synthesized using co-precipitation method at 600 °C, 700 °C and 800 °C. The structural, morphological and magnetic properties of the powders were investigated by x-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM). Infrared spectral analysis data between 200 and 1000 cm-1 defined the intrinsic cation vibrations of the characteristic spinel structure system. The saturation magnetization (Ms) and coercivity (Hc) of the CoFe2O4 were found to be in the range of 94-33 emu/g, which is still in the range of hard ferrite. The observed variation in saturation magnetization, coercivity and remanence magnetization as a function of increasing the temperature and grain size of samples. From this point of view, nano-scale size of nanoparticles makes them efficient for using in borehole stability maintaining for enhancing oil and gas recovery efficiency improvement. The large value of magnetic pressure (-2.95699) are expected to be useful in oil recovery applications. It has also been found that the choice of nanoparticles for application in oil recovery depends on nature, magnetic and electric properties of the reservoir rock.

Abstract

Magnetic nanoparticles (MNPs) of iron oxide (Fe3O4) represent the most promising materials in many applications. MNPs have been synthesized by co-precipitation of ferric and ferrous ions in alkaline solution. Two methods of synthesis were conducted with different parameters, such as temperature (25 and 80 ̊C), adding a base to the reactants and the opposite process, and using nitrogen as an inert gas. The product of the first method (MNPs-1) and the second method (MNPs-2) were characterized by x-ray diffractometer (XRD), Zeta Potential, atomic force microscope (AFM) and scanning electron microscope (SEM). AFM results showed convergent particle size of (MNPs-1) and (MNPs-2) with (86.01) and (74.14) nm respectively. Also, the zeta potential values of (MNPs-1) and (MNPs-2) were (2.77) and (-12.48) mV, respectively, which indicates more stability of (MNP-2).

الدقائق النانوية المغناطيسية (MNPs) لأوكسيد الحديد (Fe3O4) تمثل أكثر المواد الواعدة في العديد من التطبيقات. تم تصنيع الدقائق النانوية المغناطيسية بطريقة الترسيب المشترك لأيونات الحديديك والحديدوز في محلول قلوي. تم إتباع طريقتين للتصنيع وبعوامل مختلفة، مثل الحرارة (25 و 80 ̊م)، إضافة القاعدة الى المواد المتفاعلة والعملية العكسية لها، و إستخدام النتروجين كغاز خامل. تم تشخيص ناتج الطريقة الأولى (MNPs-1) والطريقة الثانية (MNPs-2) بواسطة جهاز حيود الأشعة السينية (XRD) وجهد زيتا ومجهر القوى الذرية (AFM) والمجهر الألكتروني الماسح (SEM). نتائج فحص AFM بينت تقارب في حجم دقائق (MNPs-1) و (MNPs-2) بقيمة (86,01) و (74,14) نانومتر، على التوالي. كذلك قيم جهد زيتا لـ (MNPs-1) و(MNPs-2) كانت (2,77) و(- 12,48) ملي فولت، على التوالي، والذي يعد مؤشراً على أن (MNPs-2) أكثر استقراراً من (MNPs-1).
