Abstract

Marble dust and brick waste materials taken from demolition of buildings create serious environmental problems so the main aim of this paper is to evaluate the potency of employing mixed (marble-dust and brick-powder) waste materials altogether as partly replace of cement and the fine-aggregate respectively in the composition of concrete which were mixed with a ratio of (1:2:4) and (W/C) ratio equal to (0.45). In this study the cement has been replaced by marble dust waste in the proportion of (0%,5%, 10%, 15%, 20%, 25% ) and fine aggregate replaced by waste brick powder in the proportion of (0%,5%,10%, 15%,20%,25%) by weight of concrete mix simultaneously . In this paper the (compressive , flexural and split tensile) strength of the concretes mixtures were specified . The main results of this paper appeared that the (cement and sand) can be partially replaced by( marble- dust and brick- powder) in the concrete mixture and it has achieved the optimum percentage of replacement by (20)%. So that utilization of construction waste is required in an attempt to equilibrium between the construction request and environmental sustainability.

Abstract

This investigated is conducted to study the effect of adding of marble dust and polymer (Styrene Butadiene Rubber) on the properties of clay brick. Specimens manufactured from soil brought from ( al-Huda plant of brick) located in Hilla . The proportions of the components of this soil were (% 49,% 18,% 33) (Clay, Sand, Silt), respectively, marble dust and (SBR) were added with percentages (12, 24,36) for marble dust and (5, 10, 15) for( SBR) by weight of dry soil. The properties of brick product were studied in two case ,in the first percentage of addition ( water /soil) was (15) and the second was (27) , also studied the case of adding (SBR) without adding water with addition a constant percentage of (marble dust) for all proportions of (SBR ). All Specimens were burnt in the same ( al_Huda plant) at a temperature of (1000 ° C) after being dried natural for a period of (7 day), through practical results for all test observed that the marble dust and (SBR) when the (water / soil = 27%) have the negative effect for compressive strength but marble dust has the acceptable effect on properties (water absorption and efflorescence) . However when the ( w/s=15% ), the marble dust and ( SBR) have an obvious positive effect for all properties of clay brick especially at addition of marble dust in ( 36 percentage) and (15 percentage) for polymer (SBR).

تم إجراء هذا البحث لدراسة تأثير إضافة غبار الرخام والبوليمر (مطاط ستايرين البيوتاديين) على خصائص الطوب الطيني .صنعت النماذج بتربة تم جلبها من ( معمل طابوق الهدى) الواقع في الحلة0كانت نسب مكونات هذه التربة هي 33 )% ,18%, %49) (Clay,Sand,silt)على التوالي. تم اضافة غبار المرمر بنسب (12%24,% 36,%) و البوليمر SBR (0%,16%,20%,24%) من وزن التربة الجافة 0درست خواص الطابوق المنتج في حالة اضافة نسبتي الماء (15%) و(27%) و درست حالة اضافة نسب من (SBR ) بدون اضافة ماء خلط و باضافة نسبة ثابتة من (غبار المرمرMD ) لكافة نسب (SBR ) في نفس المعمل تم حرق النماذج بدرجة حرارة (1000مئوية) بعد ان جففت لمدة (7 يوم) جفاف طبيعي ، من خلال النتائج العملية لكل الفحوصات لوحظ ان لغبار المرمر ومحلول (SBR) عند نسبة( ماء/ التربة =27%) تاثير غير ايجابي على مقاومة الانضغاط ولكن لغبار المرمر(MD) تاثير مقبول للخواص ( الامتصاص والتزهر) اما عند النسبة (15% w/s= ) فان لكل من غبارالمرمر والبوليمر (SBR ) تاثير ايجابي واضح جدا على كل خواص الطابوق الطيني وخصوصا عند نسبة الاضافة (36%) لغبار المرمر و(15%) للبوليمر( SBR ).

Effect of Addition of A Marble Dust on Drying Shrinkage Cracks of Cement Mortar Reinforced with Various Fibers

Abstract

This investigation is conducted to study the effect of addition of marble powder (marble dust) and different fibers on drying shrinkage cracks and some properties of fibers reinforcment cement mortar. Steel molds having a trapezoidal section, and the end restrained at square shape with( 2.7 meter) at length are used to study restrained drying shrinkage of cement mortar. Specimens of ( compressive .flextural. splitting strength) were cast. The admixture (marble dust) was used to replacie weight of cement with three levels of (4%, 8% and 16%) and the fiber hemp and sisal fiber were added for all mixes with proportion by volum of cement . All specimens were cured for (14 days). Average of three results was taken for any test of compressive, tensil and flextural strength. The experimental results showed that the adding of this admixture(marble dust) cause adelay in a formation of cracks predicted from a drying shrinkage ,decreases of its width , and hence increases of (compressive, splitting tensil and flextural strength) at levels of (4%, and 8%). Thus there is a the positive effect when fiberes added for all mixes of cement mortar with addition of (marble dust). All The admixtures (marble dust and fibers) have the obvious visible effect in the delay of the information of shrinkage cracks and the decrease of its width as Compared to the cement mortar mixes when marble dust added a alone.

هذه الدراسة تهدف الى دراسة تأثير اضافة (غبار المرمر) مع الياف مختلفة على انكماش الجفاف وبعض الخواص لمونة السمنت المسلحة بالالياف، في هذه الدراسة تم استخدام قوالب حديدية بمقطع على شكل شبه منحرف بطول (2.7 متر) ومن نهايتيه قالب بشكل مربع لغرض تقييد النموذج لضمان حدوث (تشققات انكماش الجفاف) لمونه السمنت وأيضاً تم صب نماذج لغرض تعيين مقاومة الانضغاط ومقاومة الانشطارو الانثناء. استخدمت ثلاث نسب مئوية من) مسحوق المرمر( وهي (4% مر و 8% و 16%) كاستبدال من وزن السمنت , واستخدمت الياف ( السيسال واالقنب ). بنسب حجمية من السمنت .تم انضاج النماذج جميعاً بفترة إنضاج) 14 يوم(. تم اخذ معدل ثلاثة نتائج لكل فحص من مقاومة الانضغاط والشد و الانثناء. أوضحت النتائج العملية أن إضافة ا المضاف(MD ( يؤخر حدوث التشققات الناتجة من (انكماش الجفاف ( لمونة السمنت ويقلل من عرضها ويزيد من مقاومة الانضغاط والشد و الانثناء عند النسب (4% و 8%) ونفس التاثير عند اضافة الالياف لمونة السمنت جميعا و كل على حدة مع (غبار المرمر) ولكل نسب الاضافة لها . وعند اضافةالالياف مع غبار المرمر سوية نلاحظ تأثير ملموس في تأخير حدوث (تشققات الانكماش(في مونة السمنت و تقليل في عرض تلك التشققات مقارنة مع خلطات مونة السمنت المضاف لها غبار المرمر لوحده .
