Abstract

Abstract–The estimation of optical flow is the basic step for many engineeringapplications that exploit the image processing field as a part of their models. In thispaper a model called Slantlet Based Optical Flow Estimation (SLT_OFE) is proposed toestimate the optical flow. Slantlet Transform (SLT) used as an effective tool, 2D and3D- SLT- Level 2 (SLT2) are computed and employed in the proposed model to providehigh accuracy estimation of the optical flow. By its definition, optical flow is a velocityfield, so the velocities in this paper are computed using the widely used DifferentialTechnique. Two methods from this technique are adopted; Horn-Schunck Method andLucas-Kanade Method. The optical flow is estimated for two types of image sequences;synthetic sequences and real sequences. Unlike the real sequences, the syntheticsequences have known true velocities which are used for evaluating the proposed modelby calculating mean error (Mean Err.), angular error (Ang. Err.) and Standard Deviation(STD). For extreme study of its performance, the proposed SLT_OFE is compared withthree other models that are based on level two (Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT),Discrete Multi Wavelet Transform (DMWT) and Framelet Transform (FT) ) which areimplemented in this paper and employed in the conventional models, 2D-DWT2_OFE,2D-DMWT2_OFE and 2D-FT2_OFE. The results show that the proposed model offersminimum values in errors and STD when 2D-SLT2 is used, and these results areimproved by using 3D-SLT2. This leads to the fact that the proposed model SLT_OFEthrough both of 2D and 3D approaches possesses an improvement in the optical flowestimation process with higher accuracy, than the other models produced in the samecircumstances. MATLAB Version 7.12 (R2011a) is used to implement the proposedmodel and the conventional models.

Abstract

AbstractOptical flow estimation is still one of the key problems in computer vision.When estimating the displacement field between two images, it is applied as soonas correspondences between pixels are needed. The choice of the transform is animportant tool in optical flow estimation. So in this paper curvelet transform isproposed to estimate the optical flow. it is found that the proposed algorithm ismuch better than most recently previous work based on multiwavelet. This isbecause curvelet transform can be efficient in finding estimates along curves.

مازال تخمين الانسياب البصري احد المشاكل في الانتقال المرئي. فعند تخمين الازاحة بينان اختيار .(pixels) صورتين فان ذلك يعتمد على العلاقة المتوفرة بين عناصر الصورةالتحويل المناسب هو احد العوامل المهمة في تخمين الانسياب البصري. لذلك في هذا البحث تملتخمين الانسياب البصري. حيث تم (Curvelet Transform) اقتراح استخدام التحويل المنحنياستنتاج ان الخوارزمية المقترحة هي افضل بكثير من الخوارزمية المقدمة في احدث بحث والذيوهذا بسبب ان التحويل المنحني يكون كفوء (multiwavelet) كان يعتمد على متعدد المويجاتاستنتاج التخمين على طول المنحنيات.

Abstract

An approach is developed for computing optical flow in the differential framework for global models. This is achieved using schemes for the computation of the derivative using 4-point central differences filter. The proposed algorithm is compared with the most recent algorithm that is based on multiwavelet and it is found that the proposed algorithm is better than that based on multiwavelet in terms of results and required execution time. The algorithm developed in this paper is performed using MATLAB version 7 and implemented on Pentium 4, 1.7 GHz, 256 Mbyte RAM computer.

Abstract

In this paper, a new algorithm for accurate optical flow estimation using discretewavelet approximation is proposed. The image sequences are always assumed tobe noiseless in the computation of optical flow, since there is always a method thatcan perform such task. One of the main application areas of the wavelettransform is that of noise reduction in images. The basic technique is to transformthe noisy input image into a domain, in which the main signal energy isconcentrated into as few coefficients as possible, while the noise energy isdistributed more uniformly over all coefficients. The choice of the transform isrepresent an important tool in optical flow estimation. In this paper, severalalgorithms of 1-D, 2-D and 3-D wavelet transforms are adapted for the estimationof optical flow for the first time.

يقَتِّرح في هذ البحث طريقة جديدة لاستخلاص التدّفق البصر  ي باستخدام تحويل المويجة. يفترضعلى الدوام ان الصور المتتابعة تكون خالية من الضوضاء عند حساب التدفق البصري.حيث توجدطريقة للقيام بذلك. واحد من اهم تطبيقات تحويل المويجة هو خفض مستوى الضوضاء في الصور.مبدا هذه التقنية هو تحويل الادخال الصاخب الى مجال بحيث ان معظم طاقة الاشارة تتركز في اقلعدد ممكن من المعاملات، بينما الطاقة التي تحتوي على ضوضاء تتوزع بشكل منتظم اكثر علىجميع المعاملات. ان اختيار نوع التحويل مهم جدا عند حساب التدفق البصري. يقَ  دم في هذ البحثبعض الخواروميات لحساب تحويل المويجات بالنسبة للاشارات ذات البعد الواحد والبعدين والثلاثةابعاد. بالاضافة الى ذلك، ولاول مرة، يتم اقتراح طريقة جديدة في حساب التدفق البصري بالاعتمادعلى تحويل المويجات للاشارات ثلاثية الابعاد.
