Abstract

The photodecomposition of poly(vinyl chloride), films containing organotin complexes (0.5% by weight) was investigated. The photodecomposition rate constant was reduced significantly in the presence of organotin complexes compared to the blank PVC. The Ph3SnL complex was found to be the most effective additive in photostabilization of PVC films. The photodecomposition rate constant for PVC films containing triphenyltin(IV) was found to be 1.80  103 sec1 compared to 4.75  103 sec1 for PVC films in the absence of any additives.

Abstract

The photostability of PVC films phenylphrine HCl acid complexes was investigated. PVC reacts with phenyl phrine HCl acid (L) in THF to prepare PVC-L compound, which characterized by various spectroscopic methods. PVC-L has been reacted with different metal ions to form PVC-L-MII complexes. The structures of these complexes were characterized by IR and Uv-Vis. Spectrophotometry. The photostabilization activity of these compounds was determined by monitoring different indices with irradiation time. The changes in viscosity average molecular weight of PVC with irradiation time were also confirmed (using THF as a solvent). The quantum yield of the chain scission (Φcs) of modified polymer films was evaluated and found to range between 4.990x103 and 1.147x104. Surface morphology of the films was studied by atomic force microscope (AFM). All results show that the rate of photodegradation of PVC-L-MII films following the trends: PVC‐L‐CdII > PVC‐L‐ZnII > PVC‐L-CuII > PVC‐L-CoII > PVC‐L > PVC. According to the experimental results obtained several mechanisms were indicated depending on the structure of the PVC-L-MII complexes.

Abstract

Poly(vinyl chloride) photodecomposition films that contains melamine Schiff base (0.5% by weight) as photostabilizers upon preservation with an ultraviolet light (UV) was investigated. The photodecomposition rate constant was reduced significantly in existence of melamine Schiff base compared to PVC (blank). The Schiff base 1 was found to most effective additive in PVC photostabilization films. Photodecomposition rate content for PVC films containing Schiff base 1 was found to be 5 × 10-3 sec-1 compared to 8.7 × 10-3 sec-1 for blank film. Ultraviolet radiation aging behaviors of PVC films were studied through leaching test by measuring the degree of migration. The surface morphology of PVC films was inspected by scanning electron microscope.

تم فحص أفلام بولي (كلوريد الفينيل) التي تحتوي على قاعدة شيف الميلامين (0.5 ٪ وزن) كمثبتات ضوئية للحماية من الاشعة فوق البنفسجية. ثابت معدل التحلل الضوئي ينخفض بشكل كبير بوجود قاعدة شيف مقارنة مع الافلام التي لا تحتوي على اي مضاف. قاعدة شف 1 لتكون أكثر المواد المضافة فاعلية في تثبيت بولي (كلوريد الفينيل). ان قيمة ثابت معدل التحلل الضوئي لأفلام بولي (كلوريد الفينيل) التي تحتوي على قاعدة شيف 1 كانت 5 × 10-3 ثانية-1 وهي اقل مقارنة بـ 8.7 × 10-3 ثانية-1 للفلم الذي لا يحتوي على اي مضاف. تمت دراسة التغييرات التي حدثت للافلام البوليمرية عند تعرضها للأشعة فوق البنفسجية بمرور الزمن. تم فحص سطح الأفلام باستخدام المجهر الماسح الإلكتروني.

Abstract

Abstract
A five new Schiff's bases namely 1,2,4,5-tetra[-5-arylidene-1,3,4-thiadiazole-2-yl]-
benzene are synthesized by condensation of 1,2,4,5-tetra-[5-amino-1,3,4-thiadiazole-2-yl]-
benzene with four equivalent of appropriate aromatic aldehyde in ethanol. The compounds are
characterized by analytical and spectral means. The activity of these compounds in
photostabilization of PVC is investigated using FTIR and UV-VIS Spectrophotometeric
techniques. All these additives were act as stabilizer in PVC film. The following trend is
obtained for the photostabilization effect of PVC films in the presence of these additives.

According to the experimental results obtained, a propose mechanism was suggested
depending on the structure of the additive.

تم في هذا البحث تحضير خمساً من قواعد شف الجديدة المسماة (1,2,4,5-tetra[-5-arylidene-1,3,4-thiadiazole-2-yl]-benzene) وذلك من خلال مفاعلة (1,2,4,5-tetra-[5-amino-1,3,4-thiadiazole-2-yl]-benzene) مع أربع كميات مكافئة من الديهايدات أروماتية. تم تشخيص المركبات المحضرة بأستخدام الوسائل التحليلية والطيفية. وتم قياس فعاليتها كمثبتات ضوئية لمادة الـ (PVC) بأستخدام تقنيات الأشعة تحت الحمراء وفوق البنفسجية. جميع هذه المضافات عملت كمواد مثبتة للـ (PVC). فعالية هذه المواد كمثبتات كانت كما يلي SP < SH
