Comparison of fit among different types of post restorations luted with conventional cement

Abstract

Background: with the advent of new postmaterial in dentistry, it has become important to measure fitness of postrestoration along the horizontal plane of the root space.This study aimed to measure and compare, the cement filmthickness of conventional zinc phosphate cement in micrometer between the post and root dentin along horizontalplane at different post space regions (coronal, middle and apical) of four types of posts, by using stereomicroscopy.Material and methods: Thirty-two extracted human maxillary canines, mandibular canines and maxillary centralincisors (n=32) were instrumented with ProTaper system files (hand use) and obturated with gutta-percha for ProTaperand AH26® root canal sealer. After 24hrs of incubation at 37ºC, post space was prepared using FRC Postec® plusdrills no.3 and ER Cera reamer size 70, creating 10 mm deep post space. The prepared samples were then randomlydivided into four main groups (8 samples each) according to the type of post used (Group A: fabricated cast metalpost), (Group B: fabricated zirconia post), (Group C: prefabricated glass fiber reinforced composite post), (Group D:prefabricated zirconia post). After cementation and incubation period of 24hrs, each root was sectioned horizontallyinto 3 discs (2mm in thickness) at the coronal, middle and apical regions of the root space. The cement thicknessbetween post and root dentine was measured (in μm) by using a stereomicroscope.Results: The results of this study showed that the lowest mean of cement thickness was in group C (35.28μm), followedby group A (78.12μm) and group D (81.9μm), and all three groups demonstrated acceptable cement thickness,while group B produced unacceptable cement thickness (127.34μm). One way ANOVA test revealed a statisticallyhighly significant difference for the cement thickness among four post types used within each region of the root.Conclusions: the root region and type of post system have an effect on cement thickness along post space

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of different post space preparation techniques and times on the apical seal of two types of gutta-percha obturation techniques. Materials and methods: Two hundred extracted human lower premolars were selected for this study. All teeth were decoronated to adjust the working length at 14 mm. The canals were instrumented with ProTaper rotary instruments to size F3. The (200) root canals were randomly divided into two groups (100) of each according to the obturating method. Then each group was sub divided into (10) sub groups (10) of each (2 control groups and 8 experimental groups). Nine mm segment of gutta-percha was removed from the roots in each of the experimental groups either immediately after obturation or 7 days later using either heated pluggers, or Gates-Glidden drills or ProTaper rotary instruments or peeso reamers. The roots in the control groups were left without any post space preparation. The canal orifice of the roots in the experimental groups was sealed with amalgam. The extend of linear dye leakage was measured in mm with a stereomicroscope at (X 20). One-way ANOVA and sheffe statistical analysis were performed to the data collected. Results: The groups with ProTaper rotary instrument prepared the post space immediately after obturation( gps 3,11), showed the lowest mean leakage, but the difference was not statistically significant than the other experimental groups. T-test represented no significant differences existed at either two time interval studied and the type of obturation techniques. Sheffe-test for the post space preparation techniques revealed that there were a significant differences occurred with the use of ProTaper rotary instruments regardless the time interval and the obturation techniques. Conclusions: ProTaper rotary instrument provided less microleakage comparing to the other instruments used to prepare the post space. The post space preparation did not affect the apical seal in comparison with that of the intact filling.

Abstract

Time share industry is very progressing sector in the tourism industry.it has reached 15%as an average of annual growth since 1985.as timeshare is avary successful activity it has attracted most of the tourism sectors to participate in.the privilege of having anew revenue stream was one of the main reasons to get in to this business..yet the industry has avery poor image .this is due to the non-ethical approach and practices of the marketing companies.it refers also to the unducated buyers and the lack of the product awareness the presence of astrong legal structure to protect the consumers is also of great importance to overcome the product weakness. The time share industry is facing many problems so it is essential to identify these problems.this descriptive study is concerned to give an industry review.tohighlight the main Recent development in the industry and to determine solution for problems facing the industry . the study applies both dest and field research in other to fulfill its objectives .finally the study will end up with conclusions and recommendations.

الخلاصة :- تكون صناعة المشاركة بالوقت قطاع متقدم في صناعة السياحة –لقد وصلت الى 15% كمعدل للنمو السنوي منذ1985 لان نشاط المشاركة بالوقت اثبت فعاليته فانه جذب جميع قطاعات السياحة للمشاركة فيه .ومع ذلك فان الصناعة تمتلك صورة رديئة وهذا بسبب الطريقة غير الاخلاقية والتطبيقات السيئة لشركات التسويق اضافة الى المشتريين غير المتعلمين والنقص في الوعي .عليه فان وجود التشريع القانوني ا لذي يحمي المشتريين يعد اهم خصيصة للتغلب على الضعف الحاصل.هذا وان صناعة المشاركة بالوقت تواجه العديد من المشاكل ،لذا من الضروري ان نشخص هذه المشاكل ،ولكي نواكب التطور الحاصل في الصناعة .عليه الدراسة تعرض جانب البحث لتنتهي بالاستنتاجات والتوصيات .

Abstract

Cholecystectomy is the most common major abdominal procedure (1). Pseudo-aneurysm of the cystic artery is a well documented rare but serious complication that might follow an open or laparoscopic cholecystectomy (LC). It may be seen in isolation or in association with bile duct injury (2). It represents a technical failure and can be avoided by adopting a standardized procedure.We present three cases of cystic artery pseudoaneurysm, one following an open and two following laparoscopic cholecystectomy. All of them presented with hemobilia but with different scenario. These patients required laparotomy to control their problem, two of them were emergencies and one was elective laparotomy.

Abstract

The aim of this study is to evaluate the effect of immunization with whole sonicate Brucella abortus antigen on the mice infected with Candida albicans, for that, Twenty one white mice ,both sexes, average weight 20-24g, were divided randomly into (3) equal groups.First group immunized with (0.5)ml of sonicated brucella antigen, two doses, 10 days interval, skin test was done 27 days post-vaccination, 2nd group and 3rd groups served as positive and negative control group respectively. (30) days post-vaccination, 1st and 2nd groups were challenged with (0.5)ml of inoculums (1X10yeast/ml), C. albicans I/P. 3rd group was injected with (0.5)ml of sterile normal saline I/p.The results showed that the immunized animals revealed cellular immune response, negative fungal isolates and minor pathological changes in compared with positive control. Positive control animals show severs fungal isolates from internal organs with sever pathological changes characterized mainly by polymorphonuclear cells infiltration and multiple foci of granulomatous lesion.

تهدف هذه الدراسة لتقيم فعالية التمنيع بأستخدام المستضد الكلي الناتج من تكسير جرثومة البروسيلا المجهضة على الفئران المصابة تجريبيا بفطر ( المبيضات البيضاء) حيث تم أستخدام 21 من الفئران البيضاء من كلا الجنسين تتراوح أوزانها بين 20-24 غم قسمت عشوائيا الى ثلاثة مجاميع و تم أعطاء المجموعة الاولى المستضد المتكسر لجرثومة البروسيلا المجهضة 0.5 مل (1 ملغ بروتين) وبجرعتين بين كل واحدة وأخرى 10 أيام. وأجري الفحص الجلدي بعد 27 يوما من التمنيع بالجرعة الاولى. أما المجموعتين الثانية والثالثة فأعتبرت مجموعتي سيطرة موجبة وسالبة على التوالي. تم بعد 30 يوما من التمنيع بالجرعة الاولى للمستضد أعطاء جرعة تحدي بفطر (المبيضات البيضاء) مقدارها 0.5 مل من محلول تركيزه 1 x 10 خميرة مل عن طريق الحقن داخل التجويف البريتوني(IP.) بينما أعطيت المجموعة الثالثة 0.5 مل من المحلول الفسلجي المتعادل المعقم داخل التجويف اللبريتوني. أظهرت النتائج أن الحيوانات الممنعة أعطت أسجابة مناعية خلوية ولم يتم عزل الفطر من الحيوانات في هذه المجوعة مع وجود تغيرات مرضية طفيفة مقارنة مع ما اظهرته مجموعة السيطرة الموجبة (المجموعة الثانية) والتي أظهرت أفات مرضية شديدة تمثلت بأرتشاح الخلايا المتعددة الانوية و بؤر متعددة من الأورام الحبيبية مع عزل أعداد كثيرة من الفطر من الاعضاء الداخلية لحيوانات هذه المجموعة

Abstract

Summary: Background: Shunt operations are performed for different reasons mainly hydrocephalus congenital or acquired. It’s associated with certain morbidity and mortality.Patients and method: A prospective study from Jan 2004 to Jan 2006, 226 patients under went shunt operation in the specialized surgical hospital in Baghdad. The patients were divided into two groups according to the way of applying the upper end catheter. In group A49 patients where posterior parietal approach was used, and group (B) 174 where parietal or temproprietal approach was used.Results and discussions: different complications were recorded, but the most frequent was upper end obstruction by choroids plexus or by debris.In group (A) only one patient 2% while in group (B) 27 patients 15.5% this wide difference in incidence of this complication, clears the significance of posterior parietal approach as a method of choice in applying ventricular catheter.Other complications were recorded as infection, lower end obstruction of others. A low rate of mortality recorded and discussed thoroughly.Conclusion: Choosing the post parietal type with prophylactic antibiotics carries the best results.Key words: Hydrocephalus, shunt post parietal.

Abstract

The study was conducted to investigate the success of inducted estrus and totrack the hormonal levels during the estrus cycle, pregnancy and post-parturition indogs. Ten females, aged 2-3 years and weighted 18-22 kg, were kept in cages at theCollege of Veterinary Medicine-University of Baghdad. Dogs were mated and trackedtill they become conceive. Then, after one month of parturition, they treated withBromocriptine (Parlodel) a dose of (0.05mg/kg/dog) twice daily to induce estrus.Eight dogs showed estrus and mated again with the same mature dogs. Blood serumwas taken once a week from cephalic vein. Follicular Stimulating Hormone (FSH),Luteinizing hormone (LH), Estrogen and Prolactin were measured by using canineGamma counter kits. In both, normal and induced estrus periods, FSH and LHhormone levels started to elevate in proestrus and estrus phases then they declined inpregnancy months and post-parturition. Estrogen and prolactin hormones hadsignificant differences during the second month in the other non-responsive dogs.Estrogen levels indicated that the proestrus, estrus and treatment period showedhigher significant differences (P<0.01) than anestrus period.

Abstract

The main objectives of this study were to determine the effect of different metal alloy posts with different surface treatments cemented within their prepared post canal spaces with two luting agents on the tensile strength of cast posts. Ninety sound upper permanent canines were collected; the anatomical crown were removed about (1) mm above the Cemento-Enamel Junction, Preparation of post space Was made by using slow speed straight hand piece fixed onto swiveled arm of the Surveyor direct acrylic pattern is made and undergoes a casting procedure immediately. The samples were divided into (3) groups thirty in each; first group was casted with MAX-white A alloy, second group with CB Blando (72) alloy and the third group with Palliag M alloy. Three surface treatment procedures for each group were done. Ten samples in each, first group was sandblasted with (100)μm aluminum oxide andsecondone was sandblasted with (50) μmaluminum oxide and the third one receive no surfacetreatment and considered as a control group. Then each of these three groups were further subdivided randomly into two subgroups, (5) samples for each according to the type of luting agent used for cementation of the posts. First subgroup was cemented with zinc phosphate cement, the second subgroup was cemented by adhesive resin luting cement (Aureocem). A tensile strength tester was used to test the tensile strength.The results showed that there was no significant difference in the mean tensile strength among different alloys used and surface treatment with (100) μm aluminum oxide procedure, produced the highest tensile strength when it is used in combination with resin cement.Examination of the type of failure after tensile test showed that most of the samples cemented with resin cement failed adhesively at resin-dentin interface. While for samples that were cemented with zinc phosphate most of failure were cohesive within the cement followed by failure at the metal cement interface.

Abstract

Widespread use of prefabricated post that provides retention and support for core and the final crown has caused manufacturers to produce different types of post materials. The aim of this study was to evaluative the fracture resistance of two types of post materials and two types of core material. Forty extracted human mandibular premolar were selected. After root canal preparation and obturation with gutta percha the roots were divided into two groups according to the type of post material, group F restored with fiber post and group T restored with titanium post then each group was subdivided into two subgroup according to the type of core materials which include composite and amalgam restorative materials. Then all the teeth were subjected to compressive load at 130o angle from the horizontal plan at a 5mm/min crosshead speed until fracture. Results showed that there was significant different between groups in term of fracture loads (P= 0.0156). Also the fracture loads of teeth restored with titanium post and composite core has highest mean fracture load (812N), whereas teeth restored with fiber post and amalgam core demonstrated the lowest mean fracture load (643.1N). The study concluded that the teeth restored with metal titanium post were more fracture resistant than those restored with fiber posts. But the combination of a fiber post and composite core has the favorable mode of fracture that considered reparable, while considered unfavorable when restored with titanium post.

Abstract

Background: Endodontically treated teeth are restored by different types of posts. The study is to evaluate the stress distribution in endodontically treated teeth restored with prefabricated post: parallel (with different thread numbers and different materials) and tapered (with different coronal diameter and different materials).Materials and methods: The models are two-dimensional bucco-lingual section of maxillary central incisor with its supporting structure restored with parallel and tapered prefabricated post mad of two types of material, composite core and ceramic crown. A 100N force applied separately in three directions vertical, oblique and horizontal.Results: the maximum equivalent Von Mises stresses of all models subjected to vertical load are located within post material, while with oblique and horizontal loads are located at post surface on the labial side.Conclusion: Load directions and post materials have much greater effect than post designs on the stress distribution. The thickness of the dentin wall is directly proportional to the ability of the tooth to withstand the occlusal loads
