Abstract

The research aims to reveal differences in the aspects of muscle strength and some of the basic skills of players of the experimental group and control group between pre and post tests, the differences in the aspects of muscle strength and some of the basic skills of players of experimental and control groups for testing dimensional and assumed research and there significant differences in aspects of muscle strength and some basic skills for the two experimental and control group between pre and post tests in the interest of the post test, there were significant differences in aspects of muscle strength and some basic skills for the two experimental and control groups between the tests, Badien and in the interest of the experimental group, the researchers used the experimental approach to the nature and appropriate research, researchers chose a sample examined in a deliberate players from the youth Club Qaraqosh Sports Volleyball season (2010-2011), who are (18), research sample consisted of (14) players were excluded (4) players to test, reconnaissance, and the researchers used statistical means: the arithmetic mean, standard deviation, test T for samples related, test samples of the non-T-related, the coefficient of variation, the researchers found the following conclusions:- The experimental group had developed in all aspects of muscle strength and the basic skills of volleyball.- The group has made Zabottp advanced in force characterized by the speed of the arms and beating overwhelming.- The control group did not achieve development in most aspects of muscle strength and basic skills.- Development of the experimental group achieved better than the control group in the post test in most aspects of muscle strength and basic skills in Volleyball. In the conclusions the researchers recommend:- The possibility of the use of Plyometric training in a repetitive training in the development of aspects of muscle strength and basic skills in Volleyball.- Possibility of carrying out similar research on the activities of other sports and different age groups and both sexes.

يهدف البحث الى الكشف عن الفروق في اوجه القوة العضلية وبعض المهارات الاساسية للاعبي المجموعتين التجريبية والضابطة بين الاختبارين القبلي والبعدي، الفروق في اوجه القوة العضلية وبعض المهارات الاساسية للاعبي المجموعتين التجريبية والضابطة للاختبارات البعدية وافترض البحث وجود فروق ذات دلالة معنوية في اوجه القوة العضلية وبعض المهارات الاساسية للمجموعتين التجريبية والضابطة بين الاختبارين القبلي والبعدي ولمصلحة الاختبار البعدي، وجود فروق ذات دلالة معنوية في اوجه القوة العضلية وبعض المهارات الاساسية للمجموعتين التجريبية والضابطة بين الاختبارين والبعديين ولمصلحة المجموعة التجريبية، واستخدم الباحثون المنهج التجريبي لطبيعة وملائمة البحث، واختار الباحثون عينة بحثه بطريقة عمدية من لاعبي شباب نادي قره قوش الرياضي للكرة الطائرة للموسم (2010-2011) والبالغ عددهم(18)، عينة البحث تكونت من (14) لاعبا تم استبعاد (4) لاعبين لاجراء التجربة الاستطلاعية، واستخدم الباحثون الوسائل الإحصائية: الوسط الحسابي، الانحراف المعياري، اختبار T للعينات المرتبطة، اختبار T للعينات الغير المرتبطة، معامل الاختلاف، وتوصل الباحثون الى الاستنتاجات الاتية:- حققت المجموعة التجريبية تطورا في جميع اوجه القوة العضلية والمهارات الاساسية للكرة الطائرة.- حققت المجموعة الضابطة تطورا في القوة المميزة بالسرعة للذراعين والضرب الساحق.- لم تحقق المجموعة الضابطة تطورا في اغلب اوجه القوة العضلية والمهارات الاساسية.- حققت المجموعة التجريبية تطورا افضل من المجموعة الضابطة في الاختبار البعدي في اغلب اوجه القوة العضلية والمهارات الاساسية بالكرة الطائرة.وفي ظل الاستنتاجات اوصى الباحثون الى:- امكانية استخدام تدريبات البليومترك بطريقة التدريب التكراري في تطوير اوجه القوة العضلية والمهارات الاساسية بالكرة الطائرة.- امكانية اجراء بحوث مشابهة على فعاليات رياضية اخرى وفئات عمرية مختلفة ولكلا الجنسين.

Effects of Exhaustive Exercise on Peripheral Blood Lymphocytes

Abstract

Background: Acute exercise stress is associated with a lower lymphocyte functional response. It is suggested that exercise can enhance or reduce immunity depending on the frequency, duration, and intensity of the exercise.Subjects and Methods: From November 2007 to January 2008, thirty healthy Volunteers were recruited from medical, paramedical staffs, and students of Baghdad College of Medicine (all males). Participants were chosen according to the following: (1)Age (between 20 and 35 years), (2) Non obese : Body mass index (BMI in kg/m2) was used as an index of obesity, (3) Non-smoker, (4) No recent medical problem, (5) No recent medications, and (6) No musculoskeletal complaint. After a general medical checkup, the thirty subjects were subjected to the exercise protocol. Blood samples were taken before, and immediately after the end of exercise. Results: The mean age of individuals enrolled in the study was 29 ± 4years. Exercise induced significant granulocytosis whereas lymphocytes declined to a level significantly below the baseline. Trypan blue exclusion test showed that the initial percentage of nonviable lymphocytes was 2.90% ± 0.2%. After exhaustive exercise, cell viability decreased where percentage of nonviable cells was 4.3% ± 0.3% (p<0.005). Early apoptotic lymphocytes showed membrane blebbing and did not take the dye, while dead cells appeared blue from dye uptake. MDA was 3.0 ± 0.23 nmol/ml. An increment in the mean value of MDA was observed in the post exercise blood sample that was withdrawn immediately after exercise (p<0.005).Conclusion: The present study shows that exhaustive exercise induces apoptosis in peripheral blood lymphocytes manifested by increased level of malondialdehyde, an oxidative stress marker. This finding supports the hypothesis that apoptosis could be involved in exercise-induced lymphocytopenia and this effect depends on exercise intensity. Effects of Abuse of Anabolic Androgenic Steroids on Iraqi Athletes

Abstract

Anabolic androgenic steroids (AAS) are man-made derivatives of the male sex hormone testosterone, originally designed for therapeutic uses to provide higher anabolic potency with lower androgenic effects. Increasing numbers of young athletes are using these agents illicitly to enhance physical fitness, appearance, and performance despite their numerous side effects and worldwide banning. Today, their use remains one of the main health problems in sports because of their availability and low price. The present study focuses on investigating the adverse effects of anabolic androgenic steroid abuse on sex hormones, liver and renal function tests, fasting glucose levels and lipid metabolism in Iraqi male recreational bodybuilders. We have recruited fifteen male bodybuilders (age 19-32 years) and an equal number of healthy non-obese, non-AAS-using sedentary controls. Serum hormones (luteinizing hormone (LH), follicle stimulating hormone (FSH), total testosterone, and prolactin), liver function indices (serum alanine aminotransferase (ALT), aspartate aminotransferase(AST), alkaline phosphatase(ALP), total and direct bilirubin), renal function parameters (serum creatinine and urea), lipid profile and serum glucose levels were measured. Abuse of AAS was associated with significant decreases (p< 0.005) in serum levels of LH (66.9%), FSH (49.8 %) and testosterone (63.7%) together with significant increases (p< 0.05) in prolactin concentrations (49.8%) in AAS-using bodybuilders compared to sedentary controls. Anabolic androgenic steroids-using athletes had significantly higher (p< 0.05) circulating levels of total bilirubin (116.3%), direct bilirubin (127.6%), aspartate (1752.9%) and alanine (263.1 %) transaminases than those of sedentary control subjects. Serum alkaline phosphatase levels were not significantly different (p> 0.05) between the two groups. Concerning renal function, AAS-using athletes had significantly higher serum concentrations of creatinine (28.6%) and urea (21.3%) than sedentary controls. Meanwhile, AAS abuse was accompanied by atherogenic lipid profile. Anabolic androgenic steroids -using athletes had significantly higher (p< 0.05) serum levels of triglycerides (TG) (45.6%), low density lipoprotein-cholesterol (LDL-C) (26.0%) and very low density lipoprotein-cholesterol(VLDL-C) (45.6%) together with significantly lower serum concentrations of high density lipoprotein-cholesterol (HDL-C) (31.3%) than sedentary controls. Serum total cholesterol (TC) and fasting glucose concentrations were not significantly different (p> 0.05) between the two groups. The results presented in the study confirm that abuse of AAS induces unfavorable body functions and undesirable side effects. Therefore, efforts should be sought against use of these compounds outside the therapeutic frame.

الستيرويدات البنائية هي مشتقات الهرمون الذكري المعروف بـ (Testosterone) صُنعت خصيصاً للتغلب على عيوب و مساوئ الـ (Testosterone) كمستحضر دوائي. تذكر الدراسات أنَّ أعداد الرياضيين الذين يقبلون على تعاطي مثل هذه المركبات بدون تصريح طبي في تزايد ملحوظ بمرور السنين على الرغم من التحذيرات المتكررة حول أعراضها الجانبية و على الرغم من وضع المنظمات الاولمبية و الجهات الحكومية عقوبات صارمة على من يتعاطى هذه المواد أو يتاجر بها. يعتبر الاستخدام الخاطئ لهذه المركبات من قبل الرياضيين من أهم مشاكل الرياضة في العصر الحديث. اُجريت هذه الدراسة و صممت لتقييم تأثيرات تعاطي هذه الستيرويدات البنائية على مستوى الهرمونات في مصل الدم و وظائف الكبد و الكلى و مستوى توزيع الشحوم و مستوى السكر في مصل الدم لمجموعة من ممارسي رياضة كمال الأجسام. اشتملت هذه الدراسة على (15) رياضياً يتعاطون الستيرويدات البنائية و (15) متطوعاً لا يمارسون رياضة كمال الأجسام و لا يتعاطون الستيرويدات البنائية. إعتمدت طرق التقييم على قياس مستوى الهرمونات في مصل الدم (LH, FSH, Testosterone, and prolactin) و وظائف الكبد (Total and direct bilirubin, SAST, SALT, and alkaline phosphatase) و وظائف الكلى (S creatinine and S urea) و مستوى توزيع الشحوم في مصل الدم (TC, TG, HDL-C, LDL-C, and VLDL-C) بالإضافة إلى تركيز السكر في الدم. أظهر تحليل البيانات تأثيراً ذو قيمة معنوية واضحة لتعاطي الستيرويدات البنائية على تركيز الهرمونات في مصل الدم .

Abstract

Background: There are many circulatory changes that occur during exercise in order to supply the tremendous blood flow required by the muscles during the stimulatory effects on circulation by the mass sympathetic discharge, the increased arterial pressure and cardiac output. The metabolic effects and the oxidative stress as a result of the work load on cardiac and skeletal muscles could also show changes. Objective: This study was designed to investigate the effects of aging process on the vascular response during exercise and also in the oxidative stress according to age. Subjects and Methods:Eight healthy Iraqi subjects were enrolled in this study. Divided into three groups according to age, group I (age range 20-29), group II (age range 30-39), and group III (age range 40-49). They were asked to exercise according to modified Bruce protocol. Blood samples were taken from each subject pre and post exercise for biochemical tests. The test included were creatine kinase, uric acid, malonedialdehyde (MDA) , lipid profile (triglycerides, cholesterol, high density lipoprotein HDL). Low density lipoprotein LDL was calculated. Results: There is a statistical significance increase in heart rate and systolic blood pressure after exercise in all groups however diastolic blood pressure showed a decrease. A positive linear correlation is present. Mean serum levels of uric acid was shown to be elevated after exercise, meanwhile triglycerides levels decreased significantly in all age groups after exercise and also cholesterol. LDL on the other hand showed a decrease in the younger age group. Conclusion: The results obtained set a normative data for the studied parameters for the age group included in the study to be used in the future for the detection and differentiation of any cardiovascular abnormality from age related changes. These data have important clinical implications if we are to prevent the frailty and morbidity associated with old age.

Abstract

ABSTRACT: BACKGROUND: Physical exercise is important for promotion of the immune system. The immune responses to exercise are dependent on the intensity and duration of the exercise performed. During exercise, metabolic and hormonal changes occurred that can induce lymphocyte apoptosis. Melatonin is one of the hormones that are affected by exercise, it is a pineal gland hormone, its production and secretion followed a circadian pattern, onset of darkness stimulate its secretion, while day light suppress its production. Melatonin is regarded as an anti-aging hormone; it has a role in the elimination of harmful lymphocytes which may give rise to chronic inflammation and possibly to autoimmunity. OBJECTIVE: This prospective study aimed to elucidate the effect of moderate endurance exercise on melatonin hormone and the percentage of peripheral blood lymphocyte apoptosis in healthy subjects. METHODS: Sixty healthy subjects with a mean age of (37.05 ± 13.02) year, participated in the study. They were subjected to moderate exercise session which lasted for 60 min and repeated 3 times per week for 3 months. The exercise intensity was 50-60% of heart rate reserve (according to Karvonen formula). Two exercise stages were performed; the first stage include 30 minute of physical activity program and the second stage include 30 minute of treadmill exercise. Blood sample were collected before and after exercise to examine its effect on the level of melatonin hormone and apoptosis of peripheral blood lymphocyte. RESULTS: This study showed significant increment in the level of melatonin hormone and the percentage of lymphocyte apoptosis after exercise in comparison to pre exercise values for each week along the period of the test (P < 0.05). Three months exercise showed a significant correlation with the levels of melatonin hormone (P= 0.008, r= 0.44), and with percentage of lymphocyte apoptosis (P = 0.001, r= 0.701). CONCLUSION: It can be concluded that moderate exercise for three months was associated with increased percentage of periphral blood lymphocyte apoptosis and increased level of melatonin hormone in the first two months while in the third month this anti aging hormone had reached a steady state after the subjects get trained to exercise

Abstract

Background: Bicycling is a type of aerobic exercise that it is beneficial for the health of cardiovascular, pulmonary, and musculoskeletal systems .In this study, utilization of some of electrophysiological tests is to assess changes , from the functional point of view, in the peripheral nerves & their muscles that occur in relation to maximal exercise. patients & methods: 100 young healthy males , age (18-35) years old, were collected during the period from 1st of April to 1st of October 2008 at the department of neurophysiology in the Ibn Sinna teaching hospital , Mosul city. They underwent electroneurographic assessment of common peroneal & tibial nerves, in addition to electromyographic assessment of Tibialis Anterior & Gastrocnemius muscles before & after exercise challenge test on bicycle ergometer.Results: In this study, there is a higher value regarding compound motor action potential amplitudes & motor conduction velocity of both nerves, with increase in the values of motor unit potential amplitudes & interference pattern of both muscles post exercise in comparison to the pre exercise. In addition, there is positive correlation between MUP amplitude of Gastrocnemius muscle & tibial nerve. Conclusion : the results indicates that within this age group the exercise challenge test leads to increase in the force produced with no signs of muscular fatigue electrophysiologically . Abstract

Background: Physical exercise is essential for performance of the immune system. The integrity of immune response is dependent on the intensity and duration of the exercise performed. During exercise the metabolic and hormonal changes that occurred can induce lymphocyte apoptosis. Dehydroepiandrosteron sulphate (DHEAS) is one of the hormones that is affected by exercise, it is an androgen released from the adrenal cortex in response to adrenocortiocotropin releasing hormone (ACTH). DHEAS is regarded as an anti-aging hormone; it is primarily immune enhancing, providing some degree of counterbalance to the potentially detrimental effects of catecholamine and cortisol which are immunosuppressive if chronically elevated, it also had a role in the elimination of harmful lymphocytes which may give rise to chronic inflammation and possibly to autoimmunity. Methods: Sixty healthy subjects were involved in this study with a mean age of (37.05 ± 13.02) year. Diagnostic Value Of Post Exercise Systolic Blood Pressure Response In Ischemic Heart Disease

Abstract

Background: The normal decline in systolic blood pressure during recovery phase of treadmill exercise dose not occur in most patients with coronary artery disease, in others recovery values systolic blood pressure may even exceed the peak exercise value. Objectives: Treadmill exercise test parameters indicating the presence and extent of coronary artery disease have traditionally included such as exercise duration, blood pressure and ST-segment response to exercise. The three –minute systolic blood pressure ratio is another important indicator of presence and significance of coronary artery disease is useful and obtainable measure that can be applied in all patients who are undergoing stress testing for evaluation of suspected ischemic heart disease and this increase the sensitivity of exercise test . Type of the study: A prospective study.Methods: Between April 2011 and April 2012 ,all patients underwent treadmill exercise test , echocardiography coronary angiography in Ibn Ab-bitar Hospital Cardiac Surgery. Clinical and procedural data for patients undergoing treadmill and coronary angiography were prospectively collected and entered into database specially designed for the present study.To calculate mean systolic blood pressure ratio for each , Measurement of blood pressure in the 3rd minute of recovery time and divided by peak systolic blood pressure during exercise test ,after excluding patients . Coronary angiography was done for all patients who under went treadmill exercise test and multiple views were taken accordingly to clarify the lesion and critical lesion defined as >50% stenosis in LMS and >70% stenosis in LAD,LCX and RCA. Results: We studied 100 patients In the period from April 2011 to April 2012, 78(78%) male and 22 (22%) a female with a mean age 55.49±7.60 who undergone treadmill exercise testing and coronary angiography to assess the chest pain, 32 patient had normal blood pressure 68 had hypertension and 24 patients had normal coronary angiography and 76 patients had abnormal coronary angiography. SBP/3 minute recovery blood pressure ratio was significantly higher in patient with coronary artery disease than patient without coronary artery disease (mean ±SD O.92±0.09 VS 0.81 SBP/3 minute recovery blood pressure ratio was significantly related with the severity of coronary artery disease its higher in three vessels than one vessel disease 0.95±0.10 vs0. 91 ±0.01 p-value 0.0001.Conclusions: post exercise blood pressure response in patients with coronary artery diseaseis higher than patients with normal coronary artery .post exercise blood pressure is related to the severity of coronary artery disease

Abstract

Abstract:- Background: Snoring is the low frequency sound produced by vibration of the upper airway walls during partial upper airway obstruction. It is a common sleep problem. Objectives: To find the prevalence of snoring in study sample and find the associative factor related to it like socio- demographic characteristic, smoking, alcohol, obesity, nasal problems, some chronic diseases, drugs and family history. Methodology: A cross sectional study done from beginning of February to the end of April 2017, convenient sampling (300 clients) were participated attended AL-Yarmouk teaching hospital, AL-Salaam primary health care center and AL-Mansour primary health care center, the questionnaire were filled by direct interview with these participants, and asking them about snoring and its associated factors. Results: From 300 participants 56.67% of them have snoring in both sexes . There was statistically significant association between snoring and male sex, obesity, smoking, heavy work, family history and nasal trauma. The non-snorers were 43.33%, and there was no statistical significant association between snoring and alcohol drinking and septal deviation.Conclusion: More than half of the participants have snoring 56.67%, and it is more in smokers 80.0%, increasing age 73.1% at age 51-60, obesity 77.3%. Snorers more frequently in patient had hypertension 53.6% ,and also snoring subjects were complaining more frequently from daytime sleepiness 97.6% and morning headache 62.3%.

الخلاصةالمقدمة: الشخير هو صوت منخفض التردد التي تنتجها اهتزاز الجدران في مجرى الهواء العلوي من خلال انسداد جزئي في مجرى الهواء العلوي 0 يعتبر الشخير من مشاكل النوم الشائعةالأهداف:1. ايجاد انتشار الشخير في عينة الدراسة2. البحث عن العلاقة بين الشخير والعوامل الموثرة عليه مثل الخصائص الاجتماعية والديموغرافية، التدخين، الكحول السمنة، مشاكل الأنف، بعض الأمراض المزمنة، الادويه والتاريخ العائلي.طرائق البحث: دراسة مقطعية أجريت من بداية فبراير وحتى نهاية أبريل 2017، وشاركت العينات 300 مشارك، وتملء الاستبيان عن طريق مقابلة مباشرة مع المشاركين الذين اتو الى مستشفى اليرموك التعلمي ،مركز صحي السلام للرعايه الصحيه الاوليه ومر كز صحي المنصور النموذجي لغرض المعالجه وطلب منهم معلومات عن الشخير والعوامل المرتبطة بها .النتائج: من 300 مشارك (56.67%)، منهم لديهم الشخير في كلا الجنسين والذكور أكثر من الإناث. كان هنا كارتباط ذو دلالة إحصائية بين الشخير وجنس الذكور، والسمنة، والتدخين، والعمل الثقيل، والتاريخ العائلي وصدمة الأنف. وكان الذين لايشخرون (43.33%) وليس هنا ك ارتباط إحصائي كبير بين الشخيروتناول المشروبات الكحولية وانحراف الحاجز الانفي.الاستنتاج: أكثر من نصف المشاركين لديهم الشخير 76, 56 % وأكثر من ذلك في المدخنين80%، وزيادة العمر 1, 73% ،البدانة 51,6% ان الذين يشخرون أكثر ارتفاع ضغط دم 53,6 % ، وأيضا مرضى الشخير كانوا يشكون أكثرمن النعاس أثناء النهار97,6% والصداع الصبا حي 62,3% 0

Abstract

The present study aimed to compare the effect of physical exercise in the morning and evening time on some physiological parameters which comprised from renal function test including blood urea nitrogen (BUN), serum creatinine (S.cr), some of serum electrolyte. (sodium and potassium) and blood pressure. The study included (20) males students volunteers of the second stage - College of Physical Education - University of Basra (10) students from the morning group and (10) students from the evening group. The results Showed that The Bun and S.cr concentration post-exercise in morning and evening group are significant higher than Pre-exercise in the same time, the Bun., S.cr concentration post-exercise in the evening group are higher than post-exercise in morning group (p≥0.05). But no significant (P≥0.05) in Sodium and Potassium . While the SYS and DIS blood Pressure level post-exercise are significant lower than Pre-exercise in the morning and evening group, and found that the SYS and DIS blood Pressure post-exercise in evening group are lower In comparison with post-exercise in morning group (p≥0.05).Conclusion: The physical exercise cause significantly higher in Bun and S.cr, the concentration of Bun and S.cr post-exercise in evening time are higher than post-exercise in morning time, no significant was appeared in sodium and potassium levels. Conversely, significantly lower in SYS and DIS blood Pressure post-exercise.While, SYS and DIS blood Pressure post-exercise in evening time are significant lower In comparison with post-exercise in morning time

هدفت الدراسة الحالية الى مقارنة تأثير التمارين الرياضية في وقت الصباح والمساء على بعض المعايير الفسيولوجيةوالتي تتألف من اختبار وظيفةالكلى بما في ذلك الكرياتين و اليوريا وبعض معادن الجسم (الصوديوم و البوتاسيوم) و ضغط الدم ، شملت الدراسة (20) طالب من طلاب المرحلة الثانية في كلية التربية البدنية و علوم الرياضة في جامعة البصرة (10) طلاب في مجموعة الصباح و (10) طلاب في مجموعة المساء ، اظهرت النتائج وجود ارتفاع معنوي في تركيز الكرياتين و اليوريا للطلاب المتطوعين بعد ممارسة التمارين مقارنة مع تركيزهما قبل ممارسة التمارين في مجموعتي الصباح و المساء ، ووجد ان تركيز الكرياتين و اليوريا للطلاب المتطوعين بعد ممارسة التمارين في مجموعة المساء اعلى من تركيزهما بعد ممارسة التمارين في مجموعة الصباح (p≥0.05) ، ولا يوجد فرق معنوي في تركيز كل من الصوديوم و البوتاسيوم عند احتمالية (p≥0.05)، كم بينت النتائج وجود انخفاض معنوي في مستوى ضغط الدم الانقباضي و الانبساطي بعد ممارسة التمارين في مجموعتي الصباح و المساء ، و وجد ان هناك انخفاض معنوي في مستوى ضغط الدم الانقباضي و الانبساطي بعد ممارسة التمارين في مجموعتي الصباح والمساء ، ووجد ان ضغط الدم الانقباضي و الانبساطي بعد ممارسة التمارين للطلاب المتطوعين في مجموعة المساء اكثر انخفاضا عنه في مستوى ضغط الدم بعد ممارسة التمارين في مجموعة الصباح (p≥0.05).
